Types of College Admissions

There are different types of students and this difference determines their attitude to admissions procedures. Some of them can hardly wait for the beginning of admission procedures which means looking for suitable colleges and universities, filling different application forms, writing essays. Other students shudder with horror because of all admission procedures which are coming. That’s why all students have the possibility to choose that type of admissions which is suitable for him or her. Here are types of admissions:1. Comm9on Application - it means that student can fill in one form either in printed version or online and send this application form to all schools which accept it. And it doesn’t mean that schools which accept common application may give preference to their own application forms. 2. Rolling Admissions – usually a lot of colleges and universities have certain deadlines which application forms are accepted and considered. But there are also colleges with have rolling admissions. It means that these colleges may accept application forms before the official beginning of admission period and after the end of official admission period. It means that you may get the result early; also if you send application form early, the competition will be less, if you send the form later, you still have the chance to be admitted and you are not limited by one school. As for disadvantages of rolling admission, if you send application form later, your have fewer chances to be admitted and you have fewer chances to get financial aid.3. Early Admissions are carried out by many recognized schools. It means that they receive application forms earlier and you may be admitted earlier. Usually they get 25-50% of their students after early admissions.4. Early Decision program – if you were accepted according to this program, then you have to refuse to all other schools where you sent your application forms. 5. Early Action program – according to this program you can send application forms in many schools and you have right to wait for results from all these schools and then make a decision.6. Single Choice Early Action program – it is similar to the previous program, but you are restricted by only one school.
